I thrive on the controversial subjects, and controversy is the area in which I most efficiently flourish. I make an effort every day to educate myself in some way; be it socially, politically, scientifically, historically, theologically or literarily.

'Who are we to say' is my whole basis for my agnosticism and general disdain for organized religion. No one can prove or disprove the existence or non-existence of a higher power or intelligence.

I believe, at least basically, in the Bible, ONLY when coupled with the Gnostic Gospels. That is, the part that the sexists, racists, extremists and conservatives left out because it didn't fit in their narrow scope of the world and gave women too much credit and/or power. It is, in essence, the completion of the Bible, and it explains and fills in the contradictions, missing pieces, and obvious cover-ups.

As a practice, I wear three ankhs minimum on my person. It makes me feel safe somehow. Hence my ever-growing interest in Egypt. I am currently notating an entire textbook on Ancient Egypt, and would eventually like to get a degree in Egyptology; my area of expertise as yet unknown. Dream: Corner office, Museum of Natural History.

I am getting very heavily into runes. The language itself, translation, the casting of runestones and their correlating interpretations. I sewed a drawstring bag by hand, complete with satin lining, for the set of stones, which I am getting very soon. :)

I've been looking into Theosophy and it sounds like my digs so far as the quest goes...

Peace be with you, The Nuit Meri-Ra,

Since you said you seek _Isis Unveiled_ (IU,) either addall.com or bookfinder.com may have more listings than ebay (says a reference librarian I talk to often.)

Once HPB told someone IU was not very good and that he would not like it because of many errors. I think she implied/said it was not as in-depth as her later work, _The Secret Doctrine_ (SD.) I read it first and did not understand some, but when I read IU it seemed for everything I either already knew or it made sense due to SD. Most IU errors were corrected in SD, but maybe a list is elsewhere. Reading IU before SD would help: it prepares one for the writing style and topics, but it depends how much one can read. A busy person might take a few years--the four vols. are about 700 pages each, and there was supposed to be SD vol. 3, which I think is one volume of _Collected Writings_ and a posthumous version Annie Besant edited. HPB's fiction may be another volume... ancient fiction and her non-fiction and reference sources alone overwhelmed my book list/piles.

I have studied Greece and Egypt since 1st grade (not deeply until lately) and am concentrating on Greece. I like a mix, like Hermetism and Greek-style art with Egyptian eye designs.

BTW, Isis Unveiled is not a novella but is non-fiction. It is kind of large (2 vols.) to print out unless you want to use up almost a whole ink cartridge and would probably be easier/quicker/cheaper/nicer to find second-hand. HPB did write some fiction, but I do not recall if it was a novella or short stories.

Welcome to the Theosophical Network!

Glad to see that you're enjoying the site! If you have something to say, say it. If you feel something and want to share it, share it.

That's what we're here for. Embrace, Compare, Explore (my wife is the one who came up with that moniker. She's much smarter than me!). We live in Tucson, AZ, but I originally grew up in Akron, OH.

Keep up the skeptical attitude and never stop asking "why"!

Finally, remember that the 4th Object of our site is to ENJOY!
